Strands SKYN1 PXP Force Box - Intelligent Relay and Power Box for Vehicle Lighting and 12 V/24 V Equipment

Strands SKYN1 PXP Force Box is the heart of the intelligent SKYN1 PXP system, replacing traditional combinations of separate relays, fuses, switches and control wiring with a programmable central unit for vehicle lighting and electrical accessories. With 4 individually controllable outputs, up to 60 A total capacity in 12 V systems, 3 trigger inputs and Bluetooth Mesh, you can build a significantly more flexible electrical system for driving lights, LED light bars, work lights, warning lights and other 12 V or 24 V equipment.

Force Box is configured and controlled through the free Strands Control app for iOS and Android. Here you can create functions, choose which inputs activate them, assign functions to one or several outputs and configure parameters such as current limits, battery protection and other settings. The system can also be expanded with the SKYN1 PXP Force Button 907802 for physical button control inside the vehicle.

A major advantage is that SKYN1 PXP does not require special lights with built-in wireless technology. Force Box can be used with virtually any compatible vehicle lighting and electrical 12 V/24 V equipment as long as it remains within the electrical specifications of the unit.

4 Individually Controllable Power Outputs

SKYN1 PXP Force Box features four separate outputs, O1-O4, which can be configured individually. Each output can be assigned to its own function or combined with other outputs so that several products are activated simultaneously.

For example, on one vehicle you could use:

  • Output 1 for driving lights
  • Output 2 for an LED light bar
  • Output 3 for rear work lights
  • Output 4 for warning lights or other electrical equipment

You are not restricted to this layout. In the Strands Control app, you decide how the outputs are used and which functions they belong to.

Up to 60 A in 12 V Systems

Force Box is designed to handle powerful vehicle equipment. In a 12 V system, each output supports up to 15 A, with a combined maximum capacity of 60 A or 720 W.

In a 24 V system, each output supports up to 10 A, corresponding to a maximum total load of 40 A or 960 W.

This makes Force Box suitable even for installations using several high-power LED driving lights, LED light bars or work lights.

60 A is the maximum limit of the Force Box in a 12 V system and should not automatically be used as the main fuse rating. The main fuse and cable size must always be selected according to the installation's actual current consumption and cable cross-section.

9-30 V - for Both 12 V and 24 V Vehicles

SKYN1 PXP Force Box operates on 9-30 V DC and can therefore be used in both 12 V and 24 V systems.

This makes the system suitable for a very wide range of vehicles, including passenger cars, pickups, vans, service vehicles, trucks, tractors, construction machinery and other work vehicles.

Control Virtually Any Vehicle Lighting You Want

Unlike SKYN1 EXP, where communication is integrated directly into compatible Skylord EXP lights, SKYN1 PXP Force Box acts as a central power and control unit.

This means you do not need to replace existing lighting simply to use SKYN1 PXP. As long as the product is electrically compatible with the Force Box, the system can be used to control:

  • LED driving lights
  • LED light bars
  • Work lights
  • Warning lights and warning beacons
  • Position and marker lights
  • Reverse lights
  • Other compatible 12 V or 24 V equipment

This makes SKYN1 PXP particularly attractive both for new installations and when modernising the control of an existing lighting system.

Configure the Entire System in the Strands Control App

Force Box is used together with the free Strands Control app for iOS and Android. The app acts as the system configuration tool and allows the installation to be built around the requirements of the vehicle.

In the app, you can:

  • Add and pair Force Box units and Force Buttons
  • Create and name functions
  • Choose which inputs or buttons activate a function
  • Assign a function to one or several outputs
  • View current consumption on the outputs
  • Set a current limit for each output
  • Configure warning and shutdown levels for battery voltage
  • Control connected functions directly from your phone

This allows the app to function as both an installation tool and a control panel for the system.

Create Functions Instead of Thinking in Relays

One of the major differences compared with conventional vehicle wiring is that SKYN1 PXP works with functions. A function consists of one or more control sources and the outputs that should respond to them.

For example, you can create a function called "Driving Lights" and have it activated by a Force Button while simultaneously switching on both Output 1 and Output 2. Another function could be "Rear Work Lights" and use a separate button or external vehicle signal as its trigger.

This makes the installation significantly more flexible than a traditional system where each physical switch is normally connected to one specific relay.

3 Trigger Inputs for Vehicle Signals

Force Box features three physical trigger inputs, INP1-INP3. These can be used to allow signals from the vehicle to automatically influence functions within the system.

This opens up integration with:

  • High-beam signal
  • Reverse light signal
  • Ignition
  • Other positive or negative control signals from the vehicle

A function therefore does not have to be activated only from a phone or Force Button. The vehicle's own signals can become part of the system logic.

Ideal for Driving Lights with High-Beam Control

For driving lights and LED light bars, the trigger inputs allow the Force Box to be integrated with the vehicle's high-beam signal. Once configured, the driving light function can follow the signal used as the trigger.

This makes Force Box a modern central solution for installations where driving lights, LED light bars and other lighting need to be combined within one electrical system.

On vehicles where the high-beam signal is not available as a conventional analogue signal, a separate compatible CAN bus solution may still be required to provide the correct control signal.

Automatic Control of Work Lights and Reverse Lights

The trigger inputs can also be used for other vehicle signals. For example, rear work lights can be configured to activate from a Force Button while working with the vehicle, while the system can also be built to respond to an external reverse signal.

This makes it possible to combine manual and automatic control within the same system and create a solution that reflects how the vehicle is actually used.

Current Measurement Directly in the System

Force Box measures the current on its outputs. In the Strands Control app, live current consumption can be displayed in amperes, making it easier to see how much load the connected equipment is actually placing on the system.

This is useful during both installation and troubleshooting and makes it significantly easier to configure the correct current limit for each output.

Electronic Overload Protection on Every Output

Each output features intelligent electronic protection. If an output draws more current than the configured limit, Force Box switches it off within only a few hundredths of a second.

This can protect the system if a connected product develops a fault, a cable is damaged or the load becomes greater than the configured limit allows.

Once the cause has been corrected, the function can be restored by switching it off and activating it again.

Extremely Fast Short-Circuit Protection

Force Box also includes separate short-circuit protection. In the event of a short circuit, the electronics can disconnect the affected output in less than one millisecond.

Importantly, only the faulty output is blocked. The remaining outputs can continue operating, providing significantly more intelligent fault management than if the entire installation relied on one conventional fuse.

The electronic protection does not replace correctly sized main fusing and wiring.

Programmable Battery Protection

One of the most useful Force Box functions on work and service vehicles is the integrated battery protection. The system monitors vehicle battery voltage and can warn or switch off connected functions before the battery is discharged too far.

In the app, you can configure:

  • Warning Voltage - the level at which the system warns of low battery voltage
  • Shutdown Voltage - the level at which the function is switched off to protect the battery

You can use general levels for the whole system or create individual thresholds for different functions.

Prioritise Important Equipment as Battery Voltage Drops

The ability to use different voltage thresholds for different functions makes the system particularly useful on work vehicles.

For example, decorative lighting or less important work functions can be configured to switch off earlier, while essential equipment is allowed to continue operating down to a lower battery voltage.

This allows the electrical system to be adapted according to how critical each function is in actual use.

Automatic Sleep Modes Reduce Power Consumption

SKYN1 PXP Force Box includes several sleep modes that gradually reduce the unit's own power consumption when the vehicle is stationary.

The system can wake again when, for example, a button is pressed, an input receives a signal or battery voltage rises when the vehicle is started or a charger is connected.

This makes Force Box better suited to permanent vehicle installations where the equipment remains connected to the battery.

Add SKYN1 PXP Force Button for Physical Control

Force Box can be controlled directly from the Strands Control app, but the system can also be expanded with the SKYN1 PXP Force Button, part number 907802.

Force Button features two programmable physical buttons that communicate wirelessly with the system through Bluetooth Mesh. The buttons can be assigned to any Force Box function, providing fast physical control from the driver's position.

SKYN1 PXP Force Button 907802 is sold separately.

One Button Can Control Multiple Force Box Outputs

Force Button is not tied to one specific physical output. In the app, one button can be assigned to several outputs and even outputs on several Force Box units.

This means a single button press can, for example, activate several driving lights or work lights simultaneously even if they are connected to different outputs.

Expand the System with Multiple Force Box Units

SKYN1 PXP is designed as a scalable system. Multiple Force Box units and Force Buttons can work together within the same installation.

This makes it possible to start with a relatively simple setup and later expand the system as more lights or electrical accessories are added to the vehicle.

This is particularly valuable on larger service vehicles, trucks and specialist work vehicles where the number of required electrical functions may significantly exceed four outputs.

Bluetooth Mesh for Wireless Communication

Force Box communicates with the app and compatible SKYN1 PXP devices through Bluetooth Mesh. This allows configuration and control without requiring all control devices to be interconnected with conventional signal wiring.

This can reduce cable routing through the cabin and vehicle body and simplify future expansion of the installation.

Two Status Outputs for Integration with Other Equipment

Force Box also features two status connections, C1 and C2. These are designed for logic signals that can report system status to other equipment and must not be used as power outputs.

For more advanced vehicle installations, this provides additional possibilities for integrating SKYN1 PXP with other electrical systems.

IP20 - Must Be Installed Away from Water and Moisture

SKYN1 PXP Force Box has an IP20 rating. Unlike many lamps and external relay boxes, it is therefore not designed for direct exposure to rain, pressure washing or heavy moisture.

Force Box should be installed in a dry or weather-protected location, preferably close to the battery and somewhere the unit remains accessible for service.

During installation, cables should be directed downward so that condensation or moisture cannot travel along the cable toward the unit.

Rugged PA6 Construction

The Force Box housing is manufactured from PA6, while the internal circuit board features a protective coating for increased resistance to moisture within the protected installation environment.

The unit is designed for an operating temperature range from -35 °C to +45 °C, making it suitable for vehicle installations used throughout the year.

Compact Size Despite High Capacity

Despite four power outputs and advanced electronics, Force Box remains relatively compact. The unit measures approximately 175 mm long, 95 mm wide and only 25 mm high.

The low-profile design makes it easier to find a suitable protected installation location near the vehicle battery or electrical system.

MIDI Fuse Holder and Mounting Screws Included

Force Box is supplied with a MIDI fuse holder and mounting screws. Connection cables are not included and must be sized according to the installation's current consumption, cable length and fuse rating.

The main fuse must never exceed the Force Box's maximum permitted current, while still being sized according to the actual load and cable cross-section used.

SKYN1 PXP or SKYN1 EXP - What Is the Difference?

SKYN1 PXP Force Box and SKYN1 EXP are two different approaches to intelligent vehicle lighting.

SKYN1 EXP is based on compatible Skylord EXP lights with Bluetooth communication integrated directly into the light. The system is optimised for quick wireless control of these specific products.

SKYN1 PXP instead uses Force Box as a central relay and control unit. Conventional lights and other electrical products are connected directly to the Force Box outputs, making the system considerably more universal.

For users who already have lighting installed or want the freedom to choose between different lights and electrical accessories, SKYN1 PXP is therefore a highly flexible solution.
